PROGRAMS
Second Church Nursery School offers 2 or 3-day options for our toddler (Cubs) program. For our 3, 4 and 5-year-olds, we offer a 5-day program from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. We also have an extended lunching program from 12:00-3:30 pm. We also offer a flexible drop off option from 8:30 to 9:00 am for no additional fee.
All of our classes emphasize learning through play in an environment designed to encourage discovery, social relationships, and independence. Our daily routine offers a variety of choices throughout the morning, including art, dramatic play, blocks, manipulatives, language arts, books, music, and sensory play. Outdoor play in our large, fenced playground shaded by stately trees is also part of the daily schedule.
Cubs
Class
Toddlers (2-3 Year Olds)
We offer two groups for 2-year-olds (up to nine in each group) from 9:00 am until 12:00 pm. One groups meets on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and the other group meets on Tuesday and Thursday. Our 2-year-old program’s 9:2 ratio allows teachers to provide individual attention to our youngest members to foster their independence during their first exposure to school.

Teddy Bear and
Polar Bear Classes
(3 & 4 Year Olds)
We offer two 3-year-old classes, which are broken into two groups, the Teddy Bears and the Polar Bears. Both of our classes offer the same curriculum with a few differences. Our 3-year-old program’s objectives are to work on the children’s burgeoning independence, enhancing their use of language, developing their self-help skills, and most importantly allowing them to be more active participants in the learning process.

Beach Day, celebrating weeks of learning about sea creatures and their habitats, which includes coming to school fully dressed for a day at the beach

An “All About Me Book,” filled with highlights of the first three years of their lives
Panda and Koala Classes
(4 & 5 Year Olds)
Our Panda and Koala classes not only provide the same framework as the 3s, but also emphasize academic concepts such as letters, numbers, names, calendar-words, and more. Developing these concepts and other cognitive skills such as hands-on writing, sequencing, problem solving, and scientific charting, all of the work enhances our graduates’ kindergarten readiness.

Australia and China units, in which children discover the culture and landscapes of these two countries, culminating with a day of fun activities and food

A “Question of the Day,” which engages their natural curiosity about the world

All Age Groups
Specialists – Every Thursday, children enjoy a half-hour music class, “Jammin With You.” Each Wednesday they explore creative movement in a 30-minute “Ahead of the Game” session, and once a month they play “Kids Hoop” basketball.
